Daddy's Little Angel

"Where's Daddy's little girl?"
"There she is..."

On my recent visit to meet my sister and family in Abudhabi, we asked Appu my bro in law, what it was like to hold his baby for the First time? He replied, " I had the blessing to hold several children on numerous instances, but holding this little angel that gently wiggled in my arms for the first time was a moment of unbounded joy and happiness with the overwhelming sensation of being a father that completely took over me. This child is different because she's an extension of me ".
Daddy's Little Girl was inspired from that moment. As he holds his child, he realizes how much dependent this little baby is upon him and how it is his responsibility to lead, guide and prepare them to face the world. This beautiful bond between Our Earthly Father and his child is a constant reminder of how much more our Heavenly Father loves us and cherishes to see His children grow and learn to soar by His strength. We are an extension of our Heavenly Father. God Bless you all.

Like Mother Like Daughter

The "Like Mother Like Daughter" concept started out as a color study, but as always it lead to me to exploring a relationship or rather a sweet bond between a mother and daughter. There are times when a little girl just carefully notices her mother, (even in moments when her mother is not fully aware) while trying to emulate what they do in their own lives.

Strangers on a Train

Traveling on the Subway for work, it has become a frequent norm to watch people and sketch them that sometimes, I do not even notice the people sitting right next to me. There was this one day where I sat right across a colleague from work and he didn't even know I was there all across until I had to go across to him as I got off our stop, 8 stops from where we had both boarded. This was one of the Inspirations to draw, "Strangers on a Train." In a world that promotes everything of the Self... and with the pre-dominant introduction of the word "Selfie" we have built a wall around us and block ourselves in this tight cubicle of ourselves never to know what it is happening in and around us. This drawing is a comical take on one such moment.

Power of Sorry-

"My love, I don't know where to start or what to say,
Cause you know I was never good with words in anyway,
But Here I'm on my knees just to tell you ,
"Truly, I'm Very Sorry."

When the cloud of anger refrains us from thinking clearly and pride sets too deep within to let go of what we have done, it's difficult to see someone else and notice what we have done.If only for a moment we could step back and see How we were forgiven and loved By the Only one and Perfect Jesus Christ, could we see how we should let go of our selves and take the greater step to reconciliation. Saying Sorry is not a sign of smallness, but swallowing your pride and holding onto your self even when you know you're wrong is indeed a sign of weakness and cowardice. May our hearts be filled with love to everyone. May we represent our loving Creator who gave us a heart, not to hate but to love others even if it means to lay down our self.

"It's Getting Cold Here."

With the dropping temperatures here in Toronto, I was able to do an anthropomorphic study of this Dog girl, inspired from a girl in the subway. This started out as a quick experiment which turned out into something more. Hope you all like it. :)

This is the Day

Psalm 118:24
This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Here's an artwork, from a series of work that I've been constantly having thoughts to bring out into creation. I call this one, "This is the Day that the Lord has made." Indeed every day is His gift to us and to be thankful to him even on difficult days is how we can see his true purpose through our lives. May the Light of Jesus fill your lives wherever you are, no matter what you're going through. God Bless.

Color Dunes Project

Over the Last few months, I have been fortunate to do artworks for my talented friend, Prachi Gupta for her accessory brand, Color Dunes. This time around, we decided to go for an artsy, hand drawn style that though not clean finished, but yet has a unique appeal to it. I have to say, I do like how things have been progressing through each artwork. Here's the one for the Fall Season.

The Man-child

"Honey, I'm hungry."

This artwork was a hilarious take on Fathers and Children. A thought arose in my mind about hilarious situation about a crying Man-child as a confused baby looked on. Experimented with mood and colors to try to best capture the essence of getting the message across.

Sup

This artwork  was inspired from a shift of perspective. Something that can be normal to some will be abnormal to someone else. God Bless you all. :)

Grandma...

"Grandma, pleeaasseee...
"You know what your mommy said."
"Pleeassee Grandma, one more. "
"Hmm...Ok honey, but don't tell mummy that I gave you an extra candy."
"Yes... Yes I won't tell Grandma. I promise."

Watched a little boy and his grandmother in the subway. It's amazing to watch the special bond between grandparents and their grandchildren. The very hand that disciplines their own children with a tight grip, loosens it with their grandchildren. The Blessing, warmth of their love and the lessons we learn from our grandparents is something that we cherish in our life-long journey.

The Messers

"But I'm not done with my Master-piece."

This was the idea that inspired this drawing about an artistic cat that's been pulled away from his vision by his owner, who just believes that the cat is messing things up.

The broken Umbrella

The Broken Umbrella

"I'll fix you."

A little girl spots a broken and abandoned umbrella lying in a puddle and reaches out to help him. She tells him,

" I will mend your broken arms,

I will wash and cleanse your wounds.

I will Fix you and make you new."

With most of last week being dull and moody with a cold spell and sudden spurts of showers, I was inspired to write this idea while traveling my usual journey. This beautiful and Good Samaritan like heart is what's missing in people today. What we live in now is a world of Self, Encompassed by technology, social networks and anything that makes us feel good, even if it means treading on others and their dreams.

Self Character Sheet

Really enjoyed a fun challenge for Character Design Page, that II was fortunate to be a part of by God's grace. The task was to Imagine myself as a character and do some expressions of myself, thus creating a Character Sheet. Was able to play around quite a bit. Have a great scope of improvement and push it even further, Hope you all like it.

Window Shoppers

"That dress would look so good on Mummy, Right daddy?"
"Yes, it will honey."
Happened to be passing by while eavesdropping on this conversation between a father and daughter at a mall last weekend. As an aspiring artist, I believe one of the greatest gifts we have is to visualize. It helped in making the greatest scientific discoveries to climbing the Everest in our lives or even creating something purely unique and innovative. We all have the gift of creating something, whether it be an artist with his painting, a chef with his cooking or a musician with his melodies. Our greatest gift of visualizing helps us to break boundaries, let go of the ordinary and traverse much beyond what we would like to see. This young girl definitely visualized how her mother would look through the dress. Definitely, one of God's greatest gifts.

Mummy, Here....

"Mummy, here have this..."

This drawing was conceived from a beautiful moment between a 3 year old trying to feed her mother at a restaurant. How many times would there have been moments where our mothers waited up to see if we were satisfied, comfortable with what we ate or even painstakingly labor away in the kitchen after their day jobs to put food on our plates. They never have a weekend, yet they labor in love for their loved ones to feed them so that they can watch them grow to be amazing. This one act by this
child would have turned the world around for this smiling mother.

Raptor

Raptor- was one of my very few, if not only foray into doing villain characters. It's always fun to draw and animate villain characters, ( i read this somewhere) because they display a multidimensional personality that makes them more interesting to work on. The idea for Raptor came from a colored Parrot who becomes a bad-ass villain who terrorizes space. This is connected to some of my Character Cards posts with Kiera and Space Dawg. Enjoy

Perfect Little Angels

How many times have we noticed little kids at Birthday parties going all crazy just before the lights from the candles go out. If we look closely, the desire to be the center of attention, starts really early. Everyone wants to be important, so conjured this idea from a recent kiddy B'day party I attended.

Blessing of Togetherness

Have you ever had moments with your dear ones, where nothing's ever spoken between, yet a glance, a smile or a touch could shed a sense of deepness and understanding between you and them.
That moment of completeness and realization when you know you have that special someone who though quite different
from you, Is also still quite same like you.  By the grace of God, I Was able to capture this beautiful moment of a couple
heading back home from a busy day at work or college. Whatever happening around them didn't matter, but the comfort of that togetherness washed away the exhaustion from their hearts.

Dedicated to my dear wife, Princy Varghese

Training Day

With the Cold spell cast upon North America, everyone here aches for a warm summer day. Today, I was able to salvage this artwork that was lying in the rubble for a while. My inspiration for this one was spring and it's freshness and the colors that brighten the exteriors and our interiors. A beautiful day outdoors, a young girl teaching her Dog to fetch and I name this artwork- "Training Day".

PlayCards

The other day while on my way to the subway, I saw three young boys waiting for their school in an interesting game of playing with cards. I suddenly remembered about my days as a young boy playing World Wrestling Federation cards with my buddies and having a great time. Good times. :)

Thank you Jesus

Another Year of Blessing and thankfulness for God's countless blessings bestowed upon my life. To give thanks in mere words, is not enough to glorify his Magnificent name. Every talent, goodness and Blessings that I enjoy today is because of Jesus and I surrender all that I'm at the foot of the Cross. Let this be not just another year to live by, But a Year to live a life driven by renewed zeal, love and passion for my savior Jesus Christ with my wife Princy Varghese. So thankful to all my Family and friends who have continued to support, re-assure and Bless me through your wonderful presence. God Bless you all always.

Older Travelers

Was really humbled while drawing this man. There serenity on his face was very captivating.

To quote Victor Hugo,

When grace is joined with wrinkles, it is adorable. There is an unspeakable dawn in happy old age.

Storytime with my Bear

First Artwork of The New Year. This is another idea that came across, one evening while riding the subway. A little girl's happy moments while story time with her Bear. Hope you all like it. :)
